In January 2026, Michael Fuchs gave a talk at the three-day international conference "Anthropocene Necropoetics: Empire, Violence, and Ecological Ruin in US Poetry," held between 28 and 30 at the University of Cologne, Germany. Fuchs's talk, “Against Extinction and les fins de l’homme: Spectral Birds, Settler Time, and the Poetics of Anastasis in Zaina Alsous’s A Theory of Birds,” speaks to poetics of/beyond destruction.
